Drive to Pololu Valley Lookout

After a morning full of sun and swimming we decided that it might be fun to explore the northernmost part of the island. We all piled into the car and headed out for our adventure. The drive from our resort (The Bay Club at Waikoloa) to the Pololu Valley Lookout is about 38 miles. We tried to stop at an ice cream place along the way, but it was closed due to a power outage in town. We continued on to the end of the road to the Pololu Valley Lookout. I should warn you that the parking is a bit limited. There are a few spaces where the road widens at the very end and a few along the shoulder of the road. There is a trail that you can hike down to the beach below. My parents decided to venture part way down, but Josh and I decided to stay on solid ground with Chase. The view was stunning and we were even able to see some whales.
